Dear Ms McNeill;

I am writing to you on the recommendation of one our longtime clients who is also, it would seem, a long time guest at your establishment, who would prefer to remain anonymous.

I own and manage a travel agency that caters to life forms willing to settle for only the best and most unique vacation destinations, and accommodations as well as to the discerning business traveler, regardless of planet or dimension of origin. We have also recently expanded our services to meet the special needs of those who no longer reside in this or any other temporal plane so to speak. I refer specifically to the dead, the undead, and the soon to be or wishing to be dead.

Based on our client's recommendation we recently sent to your hotel a series of mystery guests in order to obtain a valid and up to date understanding of your establishment and the services it provides. Based on their report I would like to invite you to join our preferred list of venues, those we recommend to only the most elite of clientele, who demand the finest that life and the interdimensionality of the universe can provide…regardless of cost.

We feel, after our extensive review of your facility and its operations and current clientele that you would be an enormously popular alternative and are prepared to promote your hotel to the greatest allowable extent, currently in keeping with interdimensional standards related to taste and truth in advertising.

Please reply using your preferred method of communication and be assured it will reach me. I await your reply with eagerness, Ms McNeill, and look forward to a long and enormously profitable partnership.

Dear Ms Barnard,

As we promised I am enclosing the results of the site survey that was conducted prior to finalizing the contracts. Two items were noted that necessitated changes to the draft documents; specifically an increase in the standard rates.

The first is the location of a transit portal to the surface directly to the rear of the hotel. The exit will facilitate access by the denizens of the netherworlds, a point they take very seriously.

The second item is somewhat more unusual. Our survey of the exterior regions of the hotel revealed the presence of sigila on the chimney, which in turn led us to the discovery of the Sentinels and Warders guarding the interdimensional and interuniversal (unimensional) pathways and entry points to the hotel. It would appear that at some point in the not so distant past the hotel was nominated and certified as neutral ground and able to perform all the functions, rites and duties of a place of sanctuary.

I am assuming that the matter was unknown to you or you would have mentioned it at our meeting given that such status is of inestimable value for our purposes. In short, except for officially registered, sanctioned and approved vendetta conducted according to the protocols of the Ministry of Kanly and Duello agreed upon by both parties when the matter was officially adjudicated, violence is prohibited within the boundaries of the property. Hence there is no need to purchase Unregistered Conflict Liability Insurance, since violation of this status by any sentient being registering as a guest under our agreement is subject to the harshest of penalties; the peace of the hotel itself is guaranteed by The Ministry and all damages their responsibility.

Additionally, this also means that the site may used for trade and diplomatic negotiations under the rules of the Ministry, as well as other events that might benefit if they were to be held at such a site. Finally, and more cogently on a day to day basis, it means that potential guests may stay there without concerning themselves with the identity or relationships of your other residents.

I must say that in all my lives I have never encountered anything like this in this galaxy, let alone this area of the universe, in any dimension. It is a signal and unprecedented honor. In general such designation is reserved for the mother houses of the major orders of the warrior monks, the master guild halls of the Sentinels and of the Warders and some of the more trusted heads of the noble houses and the star faring clans. I know of only seventeen such sites in any dimension of any universe.

Given all of the above I took it upon myself to communicate with the Guilds for a copy of the official assignment and placement order (enclosed) and to have the holographs of the sigils examined for authenticity and to ensure the site is properly registered with the Ministry prior to amending the draft contracts since a hoax of this sort is not unknown. The report, attached for your review, states that the site was nominated and then formally signed upon registration eleven years ago by Mach’Maelcom, then Head of the House of the Sere'Ster , and a close personal friend of the Minister himself. Sadly he is now officially listed as deceased or I would have contacted him for more details regarding the reasons he sought such designation for the hotel. It is also of some interest that he began the process in the last months of his life and died shortly after it was completed.

When I discovered this I wrote to his position-heir who has, to date, declined to answer the simplest of questions, even going so far as to tell me to mind my own business.  Regardless, this is very good news as you will no doubt agree when you review the attached drafts of the proposed contract.
