The Dragons

Chapter Six

"You know," Marc said to Dinah as they stood together, his arm wrapped around her shoulders, on the bridge watching as Aaru and Ther'lin dropped into orbit around St Michael's, "I really really want to get Christopher in the same room with McGee and Zaf. I'd pay good money to see what Chris thinks of their minds."

"I'm sure we can arrange that.  Isn't he still going to school over at the institute?" she asked.

"Last I heard. It'll be good to see Hell and Spawn again too."

"We can spend a couple days at the Refuge if you want.  Melly and Colin will be over at the monastery.  Unless your obsession has other ideas."

"No I want to see everyone while we're here. I'll do my best to keep my obsessions confined to your body for awhile, how's that?"

"It's a plan I can support whole-heartedly," she said.  "When are you starting?"

"Tonight. Behave yourself. We can't very well land and then hide away in the bedroom immediately."

"Why not?" she pouted.

"Insatiable woman," he muttered kissing the top of her head. "Because if you get too much you can't think straight and we need to think quite straight right now. And, we have an appointment with Lantana this afternoon."

"Sad but true," she said.  "And aren't you the lucky one."

"How is that?" he asked.

"That you're the one who has me," she said.

"McGee thinks you're nothing but trouble; and when we're fighting Barons and the Syndicate night and day I want you to remember why it is we won't have time to make love. And I'll be agreeing with him."

She put her arms around his neck and kissed him.  "Trust me, there will always be time for what's important and there's nothing more important than this relationship."

"Hmmm. I hope you're right. Let's change and go see what kind of trouble we can find on St Michael's. Wanna start a war here too?"

"No," she said.  She looked him in the eye.  "Are you worried about us?"

"Should I be?" he countered.

She opened the bond between them as wide as it would go.  "Now ask me that."

"Should I be?" he repeated, opening his as well.

She traced her fingers along his cheek, her eyes misting.  "No."

"No," he replied softly. "I may have a lot of doubts about a lot of things, but none with regard to you. Well, other than doubting I'm going to survive your insatiable appetites."

She nodded.  "I'll see what I can do to control them.  Maybe there's a pill I can take."

"Don't you dare," he said with a laugh.

"But I don't want anything to happen to you and if you're worried about surviving, how can I not?"

He swatted her bottom. And tugged her to their room. "To change," he explained. "No nookie. Bad dog."

She laughed.  "Jack-ass.  Are we shuttling down or taking the dragons?"

"Oh we definitely have to arrive in style. Besides, the dragons have to spread the word so this will give them added exposure to do that."

She nodded and headed for the shower.  Twenty minutes later she said, "Ready when you are dear."

Marc checked himself in the mirror to make sure he was suitable for public exposure, and nodded. With a smile they zapped to the dragons and accompanied by all the dragons from Aaru made quite a splash as they sailed into the main city of St Michael's.
